BETTING TIPS FOR CHELSEA VS MAN CITY 24.02.2019

Manchester City are going for the quadruple in 2019, and this Sunday sees them with a chance of winning their first trophy when they take on Chelsea in the EFL final.

If you feel confident that you know who's going to win this one and fancy a flutter on the match, you can find the best betting sites with the top odds in the UK here. It won’t surprise you that Pep Guardiola’s team are favourites to walk off the field as champions, although they can expect that Chelsea will be determined not to make it a walk in the park. Remember, Chelsea already gave City its first loss in the Premier League this season.

It won't be an easy result to repeat, however. Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has had an up and down first season, with the London side making a fast start by challenging the likes of City and Liverpool before the fast pace of the Premier League caught up with them.

The sky blues home win against City saw Sarri execute the ideal game plan when Chelsea defended perfectly before sealing a 2-0 win, thanks to goals from David Luiz and N’Golo Kante.

When Chelsea took on City in Manchester, however, they made the mistake of trying to match their tempo but pressed too much and left them exposed in defence.

This is another match where we can expect possession to be dominated by the Manchester side. That doesn't mean that we should forget Chelsea’s new signing, Gonzalo Higuain, who should lead Chelsea’s attack on Sunday. That will enable Eden Hazard to play in either a wider or deeper position, with both being better options than picking up scraps in attack. Then there's N’Golo Kante, who is going forward more this season than in any other.

Chelsea’s recent 4-0 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth was a freak of nature and not one that should be used to assess Chelsea’s form. Defensively, they’re looking good after impressive displays against City and Tottenham recently, while they also made it tough for Liverpool to advance.

While it may not represent the team's form as a whole, the 4-0 loss to Bournemouth piled the pressure on Sarri. Their recent FA Cup loss to Man Utd only added fuel to the fire, with fans wondering whether the Italian’s reign with the club could be soon coming to an end.

Having climbed above Liverpool in the Premier League table (even with the Reds having a game in hand, City have a much better goal difference), Guardiola will be keeping one eye on a remarkable quadruple.

Certainly, the trophy might not be the highest of the manager’s priorities but make no mistake, he loves nothing more than winning silverware and has said in no uncertain terms that he is taking the competition very seriously indeed.

Sarri is expected to execute a more patient game plan for this one, which should, at the very least, ensure that Man City doesn’t inflict another drubbing on them. Chelsea may have no choice but to up the tempo, however. City has already demonstrated that they won’t hold back if they score one or two goals against Chelsea. And even if Sarri finds success with his midfield formula, Chelsea could make it difficult on the counter-attack.

Despite Manchester City’s prowess, however, there’s no doubt that Chelsea have players capable of putting on a match-winning performance, meaning that while we expect Man City to win, we could be in for an exciting 90 minutes.

The two teams do have an interesting history, with Chelsea having beaten Man City more often than any other team in the era of the Premier League. The London side, in fact, have scored 25 wins against the EFL defending champions.

Chelsea became the only side to have claimed more than two top-flight matches against a Guardiola-managed side after a third in December with a 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.

If Man City pull off a victory, they’d be the first side to win the trophy in consecutive seasons since Manchester United achieved the feat in 2010.
