Preview Germany vs Scotland 14.06.2024

Friday evening at 20:00 the Euro 2024 starts, a tournament that will be played between June 14, 2024 and July 14, 2024, and the debut match is played between the host country, Germany and Scotland. It will be the second direct confrontation between the two teams at a European final tournament after the one in 1992, when Germany won 2-0, the two teams then being in group B, along with the Netherlands and the former USSR Soviet Union which today is the current Russian Federation. Scotland managed to defeat Germany only once in the previous nine direct confrontations, the victory being in a friendly match in 1999. Returning a little to the current European tournament, Euro 2024, Germany and Scotland are part of group A, along with Hungary and Switzerland.

Germany is hosting the final European tournament for the first time as a united country, after in 1988, Germany, which at that time was divided into two, West Germany and East Germany, hosted the final European tournament in the Western part, which was democratic and Western. Returning to the current situation, Germany has won three European titles, the last and most recent in 1996, in England, when in the final they beat the Czech Republic 2-1 after extra time. Although they play this final tournament at home, Germany is not seen as the third favorite after France and England. Julian Nagelsman has at his disposal a very competitive team with many stars and can form two teams close in terms of value. Germany's most recent result was a 2-1 friendly win over Greece.

Germany possible line-up: Neuer; Kimmich, Rüdiger, Tah, Mittelstädt; Andrich, Kroos; Musiala, Gündoğan, Wirtz; Havertz

Scotland has also participated in three final European tournaments and is going to mark the 4th, but it has never managed to qualify beyond the group stage. Even in this tournament, Scotland does not have many chances to get out of the groups, having a rather difficult group with Germany, Switzerland and Hungary, but it has a chance for third place. Scotland had a good run in the preliminaries and at one point was in first place undefeated, but the return match against Spain in which they lost the only game in the qualifiers dropped them to 2nd place in the ranking, in a group from which they have included Norway, Georgia and Cyprus. Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay is Scotland's main player, scoring seven times in the preliminaries. In the last match before the final tournament, Scotland finished with a draw, score 2-2, the match with Finland at home.

Scotland possible line-up: Gunn; Ralston, Porteous, Hendry, Tierney, Robertson; McTominay, Gilmour, McGregor, McGinn; Adamsc
