In the preliminaries, France won group B, and in the eight matches it recorded only one draw, in the very last match of the group, a score of 2-2 with Greece away. France had the best attack in the preliminaries with 29 goals and a very good defense, with only three goals conceded. France scheduled two easy friendly matches before the final tournament, managing a light victory, 3-0 against Luxembourg but also a surprising draw, 0-0 with Canada.
