John Terry to get new deal at Chelsea

Chelsea captain, John Terry is hoping to remain relevant in the scheme of things at the Stamford Bridge outfit for a couple more years and manager, Jose Mourinho has assured him of a significant number of matches in the coming season. With a contract extension in the pipeline, Terry is expected to agree considering his unmasked desire to continue to give his best to the club.

While the Blue’s attack struggled in futility to break the resolve of the Tottenham defence during their recent Capital One Cup on Sunday, the England defender wasted no time to blaze in a loose ball after the Spurs defence hesitated to clear the ball after a corner-kick. In an interview after the glorious win, the captain expressed his love for the club and believes that if given the opportunity, he hopes to continue being relevant to the club.

Over the last decade and this season in particular, John Terry has been very formidable for the Blues, he has been a major part of every of the club’s defensive unit and featured beside awesome defenders like Ricardo Cavarlho and Ashley Cole during Jose Mourinho’s first spell at the club. Seeing his constant dedication, Mourinho appears cautious in order not to relieve the same event that led to Frank Lampard’s exit from the club last summer. What Chelsea thought was an exit from the English Premier League turned to a situation where they have had to constantly watch their back as Lampard continued to inspire serious contenders, Manchester City.

While speaking to reporters, Mourinho revealed that he is very confident that the Chelsea skipper will get an extension in due time. He however stated in response to whether the captain would be difficult to replace, that Terry’s discipline and leadership qualities, makes him and most of the senior players at the club difficult to replace.
