Betting tips for Everton vs Arsenal - 22.10.2017

The pressure continues to tighten at Goodison Park as Everton prepares to receive the Gunners. From disappointment to disappointment, Ronald Koeman does not seem capable of giving the team confidence and a minimum of structure. Arsenal lost to Watford on Matchday 1 and has still not been able to succeed in the away games this season. The two teams were in action in the Europa League on Thursday, with different sorts.

Everton continues to crawl. There are now four games without a win, in all competitions, and the team is linking disappointments. Last weekend a penalty, literally at the last minute, saved the Toffees in extremis to add second defeat in the championship. But they did not get away from the scare, in front of Brighton.

On Thursday, another night to forget Michael Keane emptied the tenuous attempt to claim against Lyon. An unnecessary penalty in the six minutes opened the way for the French team, who had not done enough to advance on the scoreboard. Ashley Williams, a green captain trying to paddle against the current of dismay and bewilderment of the remaining team, managed to tie at sixty-eight, corresponding to a center of Gylfi Sigurdsson. The Icelandic, coming from the bench, made a difference and created danger, at least in the standing balls, but all very strained, without accompaniment. Fifteen minutes from the end, Bertrand Traoré finished the final blow in the desperate efforts of the Toffees (1-2), who are practically saying goodbye to the Europa League. Midway through the group stage Everton are in the bottom of Group E with a single point handled, six less than leader Atalanta.

Everton are in 16th place in the Premier League, with eight points in as many days, two above the relegation zone. On Monday the Liverpool club will go to Stamford Bridge to play the tie of the EFL Cup and only then the calendar gives a break, with a marked visit to King Power Stadium.

Morgan Schneiderlin has been hurt by the European game and is in doubt. Funes Mori, Barkley, Coleman, Bolasie and McCarthy remain out for injury.

Premier League Arsenal also need to come to the fore. The London side beat Crvena Zvezda (0-1) midway through the week with a lone goal from Olivier Giroud five minutes from time. It is a euphemism to say that they were minimal services for a set drawn to the scale of the Champions League, not its smaller version. Among the raindrops the Gunners are there leading the group, adding three wins, with Bate Borisov already three points away.

Last weekend Arsenal were beaten by Watford (2-1), already in the discounts, falling to sixth place in the league table, with thirteen points added, as many as Chelsea, Burnley and Liverpool. Which means they already look from far to the City, which already has nine points of advantage, isolated in the first place. We must return quickly to the victories but to date the Gunners still have no victory on the road this season.

Laurent Koscielny came off the European game with muscle complaints but Arsène Wenger has already said he should be fit for the championship game, although common sense advises saving French to avoid aggravating the problem. Already Cazorla, Callum Chambers, Shkodran Mustafi, Danny Welbeck and Ospina are delivered to the medical department, which significantly reduces the options.
